Yogini Ekadashi Vrat Katha
The significance of Yogini Ekadashi is beautifully explained through the story of King Kubera and his servant Hemamali.
Hemamali, a Yaksha, was responsible for bringing fresh flowers every day for King Kubera’s worship of Lord Shiva. One day, distracted by worldly pleasures and spending time with his wife Vishalakshi, he neglected his sacred duty and failed to deliver the flowers on time.
Enraged by this disrespect toward Lord Shiva, King Kubera cursed Hemamali to become a leper and live on Earth, separated from his wife.
After suffering greatly, Hemamali met the great sage Markandeya, who advised him to observe the Yogini Ekadashi Vrat with complete devotion.
Following the sage’s instructions, Hemamali faithfully observed the fast. By the divine grace of Lord Vishnu, his sins were destroyed, his original form was restored, and he reunited happily with his wife.
